Persimmon Baptist Church was founded in 1828 and has been a landmark in the Persimmon Community for nearly 2 centuries.

Along with regular Sunday service, the old, original building also served as a school house until 1939, when the Old Persimmon School was built, which is now the Persimmon Community Center.

Throughout the years, the church has seen many building updates and changes. The main part of the sanctuary is the original structure and the original hand-hewn steeple still hangs above the congregants in the back of the church. Through the changes of the structure, one thing that always remained and that is the loyalty of those who serve the church and the beauty of the church and its surrondings for those who pass by while driving thought the Persimmon Community.
